Carolina Day School seeks a Chief Financial Officer to begin July 1, 2012.

The CFO reports directly to the Head of School and is responsible for partnering with him to manage and lead all business, financial, and facilities operations of the school. The CFO oversees a business office staff of 4 (+) who manage accounts receivables/payables, collections, accounting/budgeting, HR, and payroll. The CFO also oversees the Director of Facilities & Maintenance and works very closely with the Director of Advancement, the Director of Technology, and four divisional Principals. The CFO is a member of the Head?s senior-level leadership team. The position requires interpersonal acumen and sensitivity, as the CFO often interacts directly with parents, trustees, many layers of employees, and community leaders. The CFO is a staff liaison to three Board committees: Finance, Investment and Audit. A chief interest of the Head of School heading into his third year is to have a CFO who provides not only adept management but also thought leadership and careful analysis, modeling, benchmarking, and projections for strategic considerations. The projected CDS budget for 2012-13 is $13.7 million.

Requirements: 10+ years managing both people and finances/business; familiarity with not-for-profits, ideally in independent schools or foundations, hospitals or a service agency with $5-20 million operating budget; experience with fund accounting; a degree in finance, accounting, or a related field?CPA or MBA preferred; ease and skill with database and spreadsheet software as well as Blackbaud data and accounting systems.
